Sita sings a happy tune

Sita Sings the Blues won an "Indian Diaspora Award" at the IAAC Film Festival last weekend! I've been really surprised and touched by the support I've received from desis. It was a joy to screen the work-in-progress before an audience already familiar with the Ramayana (they get more jokes!), and the post-screening discussion was feisty and fun.

Another thing making me happy is my great new neighborhood, Hell's Kitchen. Especially the food. I may start writing more about that here.

Comments:

Nina, I always knew you for the sweet, audacious genius you indubitably areā€”and now you've gone and done the coolest rendition of my beloved Ramayana ever. Blessings and thank you and namaste!

Sita Sings the Blues is nothing less than Outstanding work. I have shown this to many of my Hindu friends who are touched and captivated byt the merging of the Sita-Rama story with American blues.

Genius. Pure genius.

And, don't get me started on the rediscovery of the beautiful Annette Henshaw.

That's all!

i can not believe that anyone would have such right to go and make a cartoon of sita and that it does not look like her coz she is not a stipper and this is puting a bad name on indians.coz half of her breasts are showing
