New Sita short at Tribeca Film Festival

The new episode is called "Banishment!" and it will appear in the Animated New York program curated by Bill Plympton:
Mon, May 1 / 9:00 pm
Museum of Jewish Heritage

Wed, May 3 / 12:30 pm
AMC Loews Village VII 3

Thu, May 4 / 1:00 pm
AMC Loews 34th Street 9

Sun, May 7 / 10:15 am
AMC Loews Lincoln Sq 6

Unfortunately I have to miss all four screenings, because I'll be in Stuttgart.

And in fact there's another Sita episode, "Grief and Birth," which I just finished last night
in which Sita, abandoned on the banks of the Ganges, is found by sage Valmiki who escorts her to his ashram where she gives birth to Luv and Kush. I can't afford the bandwidth to post these clips online (there are now 4 episodes I haven't posted, out of 8 completed so far) but you can see stills here.

Comments:

Hey Nina,
You might also want to check out the PlatForm Animation Festival in Portland - which is being run by Irene Kotlarz - they might like to include Sita work in progress...

cheers,
R

Hello Nina, I'm a long time fan of what you are doing, and I'm blogging you over at Articles & Texticles.

here: http://www.articlesandtexticles.co.uk/?p=38

The blend of your sweeeet graphics and Annette Hanshaw's singing is a delicious masterstroke!

Have a good time in Stuttgart. Are you at fmx/06?

THOUGH U HAVE TRIED TO ANIMATE AN EPIC, THE ATTIRE OF GODDESS IS EXTREMELY INSULTING AND IT HURTS THE RELIGIOUS SENTIMENTS OF US HINDUS. ALSO, U HAVE MENTIONED THAT U HAVE TRIED TO MAKE IT HUMOUROUS. NOW, THE GREAT RESPECTABLE EPIC IS NOT SOMETHING TO BE MADE FUN OF. IN REVEALING THE TRUE STORY OF RAMAYAN ONLY LIES THE BEAUTY OF THE EPIC. U CAN'T MIX RELIGION WITH THE SO CALLED 1920's BLUES AS RELIGION LIES WAY AHEAD OF NON-SENSE BLUES. TRYING TO GIVE A PERSONAL TURN TO A HIGHLY RESPECTABLE HINDU RELIGIOUS EPIC IS NOT AT ALL ACCEPTABLE. SO, ITS A REQUEST TO STOP UR ANIMATIONS ON RAMAYAN AND BETTER CHECK ITS TRUTH VALUE AS WELL AS THE STORY AND ATTIRE OF IT. WOULD U EVEN DARE TO SHOW JESUS/ MARY OR PROPHET MOHAMMED IN THE ATTIRE U HAVE SHOWN SITA IN? WOULD U EVEN DARE TO TAMPER WITH THE STORY OF PROPHET MOHAMMED OR THAT OF JESUS? THEN HOW CAN U TRY TAMPERING WITH HOLY RAMAYAN? STOP THIS ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!!!!!!!

I work at a museum that just did an exhibit on Balinese Hinduism, and I wish I'd known about this then! A bunch of us have watched the episodes and just love them. Cheers!
